The Shopify card, Shopify app credentials, connects the band’s Shopify store. GigJack then reads complete paid orders, processing fees and payout data from the store. You create an app for your store in Shopify’s Dev Dashboard, and enter its Client ID, its App secret and the Store domain here.
Open the Shopify card
- Open Settings.
- Under Band settings, select Integrations.
- Select the Shopify logo to expand the card.
Only in a band. Only an Admin can change the card, on Band Silver or higher. The card also appears in the Integrations step of the Finance setup wizard. Importing orders and recording payouts need Finance & accounting as well, which is in Band Gold. See Integrations for the controls all cards share.
Create the app in Shopify
Do this in Shopify before you fill in the card. The app gives GigJack read access to your store’s orders and payments.
- Open the Shopify Dev Dashboard with an account that may develop apps for your store.
- Under Apps, select Create app, then Start from Dev Dashboard. Give the app a name, for example GigJack, and select Create.
- On the app’s Versions page, add the access scopes
read_ordersandread_shopify_payments. Record payment also reads payouts, which needs Shopify’s payout scoperead_shopify_payments_payouts. The App URL can stay at Shopify’s default. - Select Release.
- On the app’s Installs card, select Install app and install it on your store.
- Open the app’s Settings and copy the Client ID and the Client secret.
See Shopify: create apps using the Dev Dashboard and Shopify: access scopes. The labels in these steps are Shopify’s and can change.
Same organization
GigJack signs in to your store with the app’s Client ID and secret (Shopify’s client credentials grant). Shopify allows this only when the app and the store belong to the same Shopify organization, and the app is installed on the store. See Shopify: client credentials grant.
