New in GigJack: Ask Jack, the artiestenregeling, VAT workpapers and more

Here’s what we added to GigJack from October 10 to October 19: Ask Jack, the artiestenregeling on invoices, a reworked gage declaration dialog with a local member file, changes to VAT declarations, a participant picker for new events and smaller changes to setlists and songs. In LinkJack, release pages can now use a Meta Pixel. For each feature below you’ll find what it does and how to use it.

GigBuddy is now GigJack

We’ve renamed GigBuddy to GigJack, and we’re moving the app to the gigjack.com domain to give it more exposure. LinkJack pages are published on link.gigjack.com.

The settings menu also has a new Documentation item, which opens our user documentation in a new tab. Use it to learn more about GigJack’s features.

Ask Jack (beta)

We’ve added Ask Jack, a help assistant inside the app. It answers questions about using GigJack from the GigJack documentation, and lists the documentation sections it used under Sources. It doesn’t read your band’s data and can’t change anything.

How to use it:

  • Go to Settings → Accessibility and, under Ask-Jack (BETA), switch on Enable Ask Jack AI assistance. The setting is off by default and is stored per browser.
  • A button appears in the bottom-right corner. Open it, type your question and choose Send. The panel shows which screen you are on, and that screen is sent along with the question.
  • New chat starts over. The conversation is also cleared when you log out or switch to another band.

Good to know:

  • Ask Jack is included in Band Silver, Band Gold and Artist Gold. It follows the plan of the band or artist profile you are working in.
  • Questions are processed by Mistral AI. Don’t include personal details. Answers can be wrong, so check them against the linked sources.
  • You can ask up to 20 questions per 15 minutes. Without a connection you can read the chat but not send questions.

Gigs and finance

Artiestenregeling on invoices (Netherlands)

For bands with the Netherlands as accounting country, an invoice can be issued under the artiestenregeling: no VAT is charged and the client withholds payroll taxes.

How to use it:

  • Go to Settings → Accounting profile and find the Artiestenregeling block. Switch on Apply the artiestenregeling by default for new gigs if the band normally performs under the scheme, and choose the Cost scheme on the gageverklaring: None, Kleinevergoedingsregeling or Kostenvergoedingsbeschikking.
  • With the default on, a new invoice for a gig has Artiestenregeling (no VAT) ticked and all lines set to outside the scope of VAT (0%). You can switch it on or off on any draft invoice, for example when the client has excluded the scheme with a model agreement.
  • The invoice PDF states that the gage falls under the artiesten- en beroepssportersregeling, that the client withholds payroll taxes and that no VAT is charged.

Good to know:

  • The artiestenregeling can’t be combined with reverse charge, and an invoice under it can’t have a line with VAT. Make a separate invoice for anything that does carry VAT.
  • An e-invoice under the scheme identifies the band by its KvK number. Without a KvK number GigJack warns you, and you send the PDF instead.
  • GigJack shows a warning when the accounting profile is registered for VAT, because a band under the scheme never charges VAT.

Gage declaration: remainder, cost scheme and member file

The Gage declaration (Belastingdienst) dialog in the gig list has been reworked. Select 1 to 5 gigs with the same lineup to open it.

  • Question 1 (representative) is taken from the Financial profile. If that profile has no name, your own name is used. The representative must be a natural person.
  • Gage for the group shows each member’s split and the whole-euro amount that goes into the PDF. Commission, fee shares and costs stay part of the gage, so any amount left over appears under Still to divide. Choose In proportion to the splits or Equally over the members before you download.
  • Cost scheme: choose None, Kleinevergoedingsregeling or Kostenvergoedingsbeschikking. The default comes from the accounting profile. For a beschikking, enter the ruling amount in whole euros and its reference; GigJack divides the amount over the members and adds an appendix with the reference and amount. Only one cost scheme can apply at a time.

Complete with a local member file: BSN, birth dates and addresses are not stored in GigJack. To avoid typing them into every PDF, choose Download member file template, fill it in and keep it on your own computer. Then choose Choose member file in the dialog. GigJack checks the BSNs and dates, shows which members were found and fills only empty fields of the PDF. The file is read and merged in your browser; GigJack never receives it. For a declaration you already downloaded, use Complete a gageverklaring from file in the Documents menu of the gig list.

The member file and the completed PDF are stored unencrypted on your computer. The gage declaration article in the documentation has the details.

VAT declarations

  • Refresh and discard. When the ledger has changed since a workpaper was prepared, the workpaper shows what changed and the amount after a refresh. Choose Refresh workpaper before you mark it as submitted. Discard workpaper makes its transactions available for a new workpaper; nothing is posted to the ledger.
  • Earlier periods. If some transactions belong to a period without a recorded VAT return, GigJack asks you to prepare and submit that period first, also when you filed it elsewhere. Late corrections to a return filed elsewhere can be included instead by acknowledging the review item.
  • Rounding difference. If the tax authority assessed a rounded amount, Settle rounding difference books the remainder to the VAT rounding account and marks the declaration as settled.
  • Filed periods. An invoice whose issue date falls in a period you already submitted can’t be sent. Set the issue date to today first.
  • Dutch returns. The Dutch return follows the 2026 rules. Distance and installation sales outside OSS are reported in box 3c. Invoices count in the period of the invoice date, at the latest the 15th of the month after the supply; intra-EU services count in the period of the supply. Corrections from earlier periods that change the VAT by more than €1,000 must go on a separate Suppletie btw, and the return can’t be prepared until they are resolved.

Participants for a new gig, rehearsal or band event

The participant picker in the new gig form (Dutch interface)

The form for a new gig, rehearsal or band event has a Participants section. Lead members are selected from the start; click a member to leave them out. Under Add others you add optional members and subs. Each selected member shows their availability for the chosen date: available, unavailable or within the travel margin. If the band members can’t be loaded, all lead members are added.

Rehearsal series

A rehearsal series is now limited to 31 rehearsals. Before, a series could span at most 31 days.

Setlists and songs

  • Nothing as a source. When a song has a default chart (yours or the band’s), Play from on a setlist item has a Nothing option, so that item shows no chart or sheet music.
  • Personal notes for every member. Every member of the band can add personal notes to songs in a setlist, also with read-only access. The note opens in a Personal note window with Clear and Close.
  • Duplicate file names. A file whose name already exists on the song is not uploaded. A File name already exists dialog lists those files; rename them or delete the existing ones first. Song files show their upload date on hover.
  • ChordPro highlighting. The ChordPro source editor colours directives, chords and comments.

  • Accolades can no longer have a date in the future.

Meta Pixel on release pages

A release page can send events to your own Meta Pixel, so you can measure clicks to streaming platforms from your Meta ads.

How to use it:

  • Open a release page in the editor and select the Tracking tab. Enter your Meta Pixel ID from Meta Events Manager; no access token is needed.
  • Under Count clicks to, choose which streaming platforms send a click event. Choose Save tracking settings, then publish the page.
  • In Meta Events Manager, create a custom conversion for the SmartLinkClick event. It carries the release and the platform, so you can filter on either.
  • Disable Meta tracking and publishing again removes the Pixel and the consent dialog from the page.

Good to know:

  • Visitors see a consent dialog with Accept marketing cookies and Reject marketing cookies. Meta is loaded only after they accept. The choice is remembered for 180 days per release page and Pixel, and Cookie settings in the page footer reopens it.
  • A click measures an outgoing visit, not a confirmed stream. The Pixel sends page views and the selected platform clicks; the Conversions API is not used.
  • Only release pages support this. Band profile pages and editor previews never load Meta, and LinkJack’s own statistics stay cookieless and separate.
  • The Pixel is yours, so Meta’s processing of your visitors’ data belongs in your band’s own privacy records.
